Chinese Contemporary opened in London in 1996. It grew to 3 galleries in London (Mayfair), Beijing (798), New York (Chelsea).

Along its 13 years existense is produced over 150 exhibitions. The gallery was the first to give solo shows to many artists, like Yue Minjun, Wang Qingsong, Yan Shaobin and many others. The gallery also organised the first Zhang Xiaogang solo shows in a major european public museum. It participated in the top international art fairs and published over 20 catologues.

As of summer 2009 all the galleries are closed, Julia Colman and Ludovic Bois remain active and influential both as dealers and consultants.
